I have, however, been hiding something from quite a few of you, and I figure now is as good a time as any to spill the beans. I guess I've just been a little embarrassed about the whole thing, but I really don't know WHY. Maybe it's just the nature of the project, since so many hold these types of things in disdain.
Yes, it's a project. I got cast. That's a good thing! Really! It's just not as glamorous as some things. It's a cable access project. No pay, but it should be fun. Oh, yah, did I mention that it's a Soap Opera?
Central Square is a soap opera about the lives of the people who work at Crystal Clear Television. CCTV is a young, struggling station that has only been running for one year. CCTV currently has its own news show, a religious segment and they are trying to start some original prime time programming (like a soap opera).
It will be airing on CCTV (Cambridge Community Television), which I don't get in Somerville, so if anyone out there can tape it, I'd love you for it.
We start shooting in about 2 weeks, and will shoot all summer. Supposedly they're trying for weekly half hour episodes to air through out the summer and beyond.
Oh, yeah, and I've been typecast:
DAC is the Director of Photography for the news show at CCTV. He is a computer type and a big Star Trek, and Monty Python fan. Ever since childhood he has been reasonably popular and for some reason people almost always agree to whatever he suggests they do for entertainment. His mother told him he should go into politics but he has a passion for cinematography. He sits and stares at a set-up, not moving a muscle, until he decides how he wants to shoot it. He and Gordon are now good friends but when they first met they took an instant dislike to each other.
Yes, I'm playing someone named Dac. I hope that I get to play my own evil twin at some point.
That would be fun.
