Funny little sidebar...

Doing research for a project, I stumbled on this. Wouldn't it mean that every American politician is guilty of Heresy, and should thereby be ipso facto excommunicated (otherwise known as a latae sententiae excommunication) from the church?

The heresy of Americanism. This is the heresy of religious liberty, that teaches men have a right to practice whatever religion they choose, and this right also includes the public practice of their false religion. Man has the free will to embrace whatever religion he pleases, but he does not have the right to do so. God does not give men the “right” to worship false gods and practice false religions. They also support godless Democracies and teach they have a right to exist and that the Catholic Church should be separate for the State.
