Home feels like home...

It's only taken a year and a couple months, but tonight as I walked around my parents house, it felt... natural.

The feeling of it being a special occasion that I was around has finally faded.  I guess 14 years of only being home at Christmas will do that to you.

Now when I'm here, I'm just here.  And it's kind of nice.  Funny that this comes shortly after sending out job applications to work overseas.

On a totally separate note, I was sitting on the couch with Nephew K yesterday "helping" him with his homework.  And by helping I mean sitting there totally amazed at how smart he is.  You see, when K was in Kindergarten, his teacher practically labeled him uneducatable.  A change in schools, to one with teachers who preferred to challenge kids rather than pidgeon hole them, and the now-third-grader is doing fourth grade math, and went all last year only missing one spelling word on all his spelling tests.  Shove that in your pidgeonhole and smoke it.

Anyway, Nephew K is just FAR too bright for his own good.  And it's awesome to watch him learn stuff.

SOMEDAY I'll get to do that with my own kids.  Someday...
