Being on the Cutting Edge

So, for the first time in a long time, I sat down with friends and watched the Oscars. One would think, since I'm a film/actor dork, that I'd be all over the Oscars all the time, but really, the last few years have been... meh. I read who won afterwards, but I didn't get all excited about the show and the speeches and stuff.

But tonight, I opted to be social and went to an Oscar party. And this year, I was actually rooting for someone... Slumdog Millionaire, which pulled a Michael Phelps and took home 8 Oscars. Go them!

And now, in the back of my head, I can hear all of the Hollywood Studio Execs screaming "BOLLYWOOD! WHAT CAN WE DO TO MAKE SOME BOLLYWOOD?!" And I'm dreading the drek that will happen because of it.

On a happier note, though, because we at the Un-Scripted Theater Company is ahead of the curve, we find ourselves on the cutting edge of what will be the entertainment industry's next big trend.

Un-Scripted has been invited to bring The Great Puppet Bollywood Extravaganza to Chicago to headline Saturday late night at the Gorilla Tango theater for the 2009 Chicago Improv Festival. How awesome is that? Invited to the world's premier Improv Festival!

Hopefully, thanks to Slumdog, we'll be performing to a packed house of folks who want to get on the Bollywood Bandwagon a little earlier than everyone waiting for films. And for those of you withing road-trip distance of Chicago:
