Saturday Morning Entertainment

As I walked around the house in my jammy pants this morning, I lamented the lost magic of the Saturday Mornings of my childhood. I clearly remember the excitement of waking up really really early on Saturdays and sitting in my living room in my pajamas watching Saturday Morning Cartoons. Superfriends, Spiderman, Schoolhouse Rock, the "Hanker for a Hunk of Cheese" guy... it was time just for me, carved out of the finite amount of programming available before cable, and I treasured it.

These days, with 8 billion channels, on demand and hulu, you can watch cartoons whenever you want... and I think that makes them a little less special. Because they exist all the time... there's no magic hour when they appear out of the mist like Brigadoon for just that special moment.

So to commerate the loss of My Television Time, I bring you....

Quite possibly the most awesome thing since sliced bread. It takes an English phrase (provided by you) translates it to Japanese, then back to English, then back to Japanese, ad nauseum, until it finds the equilibrium point, where the translations repeat themselves without mutating any farther. For some phrases, it takes only a few iterations, for some it takes quite a few.

Give "Ebony and Ivory live together in perfect harmony" a try if you want to watch it melt down. :)

No, it's not The Superfriends, but... it'll keep you busy for a while on a Saturday morning...
