The Velawesomeraptor Himself

Me and my bigboy pants

So I have generally cast myself as "the screw up" at the restaurant. As the new guy, that's my job. To be the least experienced, and make mistakes so people can help me.

Two recent events, though, have shown me that I'm not the screwup that I claim to be... apparently I just play one on TV.

Monday night there was a small party. 8 people. They were a catering party, which means special menu, courses and such. Apparently the lady who set the thing up demanded PHENOMENAL customer service.

I was the one assigned to the party. Not the assistant manager. Not the 14 year veteran.

Tonight, we had two big parties. A catering party of 35, and a reservation for 30. I was assigned the table of 30. Because it was a reservation, not a contract, that meant everything was from the regular menu, so "anything goes". Catering contracts are actually easier from the ordering perspective, because the menu is limited to certain items, or eliminated all together for a specific meal. So 25 of the 30 showed up, and I was their buddy for the night. $1700 when it was all said and done. Adobe likes to spend the monies. I made ONE mistake during the evening. Forgot to bring someone his soup. Of course, that was the guy paying the bill. :D

So all in all, I think that my MANAGER trusts me, despite my public facade as screw-up.

Would you like fries with that?

And hey, if you havn't done so yet (and only 5 of you have!!!) take my freakin poll!!!
