Klae In Concert: A Moment of Ego Masturbation, brought to you by Penn State

For the last four years of my college career, I performed with the Penn State International Dance Ensemble.  Post college, I let that fact become a little less important, as some folks poked fun at me and referred to it as Clog Dancing.  Well, today I watched a tape of my final year's Spring Concert, and I don't know what I was thinking.  For a group of mismatched college students, we did some pretty amazing stuff.  And a couple of you out there in ElJayland know what I'm talking about, because that's where I met you.

I made some phenomenal friends, learn alot about other cultures, and I can sing in over ten different languages (no, I don't know what I'm singing, but my produnciation is {or was} impeccable)!

So I'm transferring an old video tape to digital format to preserve it from wear and tear, and I figured I'd share a little snippet with y'all.

This was my "solo" piece from the second act of the show.  I can't say that I really didn't want to do the number, but looking back, I'm not sure.  I am glad I did it, however, because it's a great memory.

Some of you have heard me sing this number before but very few of you have seen (or heard) this live rendition of it. The song is Love the way you love me, originally performed by John Michael Montgomery.  I sang it at kellyangel's wedding, and this version features sinspired as one of my backup singers.

So, here it is:

Yes, it's country.  While I don't *LIKE* country, I can sing it, so I did.

There a huge introduction to the thing.  The reason for this is because the sound folks needed extra time to patch in all the instruments, so I was stalling for time.  This got me a "You disgust me!" comment from my co-student director AJ during the curtain call, because none of her dancers got special recognition like my singers did.  Whatever, bitch. :)

I don't know WHY I said "Let's Rock The House" leading into a slow song.  Blame it on nerves.

Damn I was skinny then.

I make the goofiest faces when I sing. :)

Yes, I left the applause in, cause it makes me feel good.  It's actually cut short on the tape, it went on much longer.  I'm bragging, sue me.

Yes, sinspired, that's your head behind me in my new icon.

There's one point where the keyboard does a little ditty that sounds a SHITLOAD like the Doogie Houser theme, and I chuckle every time I hear it.

As soon as I'm done singing, you can see me unplugging the mike, because right when the lights went down, we started breaking EVERYTHING down for the next number, that didn't need mics, or bass or guitar or anything like that.

At the end, someone (Heather) yells my name, and I was hard-pressed not to laugh out loud.

I'm really proud of this.
