"No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible," wrote French philosopher Voltaire. I hope you will contradict him, Pisces, both in
the coming weeks and throughout 2006. To be in alignment with the most exalted astrological possibilities, you should be the snowflake that at
least tries to question the avalanche, and even makes an effort to stop it or reroute it. Maybe you don't realize how much power your seemingly
little crystalline self has to change history, but I'm here to tell you it's more than you imagine.
So yeah... life. There's so much of it to talk about, but so few words to actually do it justice. But here goes.
Family: I got to see the gene-sharers two weekends in a row in the last month, and the visits were both good ones. Every time I go home, I realize just how lucky I am to have such a fabulously wonderful, bizarrely fucked up, eccentrically wacky, amazingly loving family. Of all my friends and acquaintances, I am by far one of the most blessed when it comes to the people I am attached to by genetics and law. You can't choose your family, but given the option, I wouldn't choose any other.
Friends: Again I fall into the extremely blessed category. It seems that everyone I come into contact with (all of you included) have something beautiful and wonderful about you that you don't hesitate to share with me. It's inspiring, because I see the awesomeness in every one of you, and it makes me want to become that much more awesome. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, of course, and I strive to imitate the magic in everyone I know.
Restaurant: They're working me sick, but shit if I'm not making good money doing it. Again, I couldn't have fallen into a better job. Waiting tables is shitty. But the people I have to work with are fabulous people. Every freakin one of them. I'm like the crazy gringo mascot to the kitchen an busing staff. The revel in teaching me weird (and WRONG) things to say in Spanish to shock the rest of the crew. I'm always invited to eat with the kitchen staff at the end of shift (not everyone is). Angel, one of the cooks, has invited me on a month long photography excursion to Mexico next fall. And did I mention that I'm making really good money this holiday season?
Show: I know y'all are probably sick of the Moron Life updates, but shit if that isn't going awesomely, I don't know what is. The new folks we brought on board this summer are stupendous and have infused us with phenomenal amounts of energy. We're getting ridiculously high numbers of hits on the website... we're over 5000 this month, and I can't attribute it to any one website in particular. It *SEEMS* like it's people COMING BACK. Which rocks, of course. Beer Activated Girl is up over 17000 downloads now, and I know that number is short, because some folks were linking directly to the files, so those downloads weren't getting tallied in the page count. And The Vaudcast is going strong. A month on iTunes, and we're hovering around 200 subscribers. Now if we can just figure out how to become one of their "featured" casts...
Camera: My new digital camera is FREAKIN AWESOME. If you've not seen it, check out 7shots for some great photography, some of it by yours truly.
The Acting: Supposedly, I hear yay or nay on Aruba on Thursday. I'd LOVE to go. I think it would be an awesome experience. But I'm not getting my hopes up too high. It's a national audition. And really, if I *DO* go... it'll make some stuff here kinda crazy. But hey, what can you do? I've also got an audition for a commercial/short film on Thursday afternoon. I'm not sure what it's for, the script is WHACKED OUT, but there are non-disclosure agreements, so I can't really share much of anything at this point. Not that I know much other than the fact that it's called PROJECT SQUIRREL, and the script is FUCKED UP. They want someone with "a screw loose" so... hey, I guess I've got a good shot. And it pays $800 for the day of shooting if I get it.
The Improv: I'm on a brief hiatus from The Jesters while we ramp up Moron Life Season 3, but I'm starting to itch to get back to it, so that's a good thing. :D I'm also pondering doing a two week run of my B-Movie idea in the late winter/early spring next year (if I'm not in Aruba). Oh, and Lon (from Moron Life) and I are thinking about firing up the First Annual South Bay Comedy Showcase on April 1st of next year. We'd like to do an evening of short films, Improv groups, sketch groups and stand up from around the South Bay. Why? Why not?
Love life: Heh. Well, it's all got to fall apart somewhere. :D But soon I'll be famous (or in Aruba) then I'll be swimming in admirers (or drunks) who want to be my love slaves. I'm patient.
That's all for this edition of -- yeah, I can't combine Weekend Update and Klae in any comprehensible way, so... deal with it.
