#86: 'Rents

I was too swamped on Mother's day to write something about the Mother-Unit, so as today is Father's Day, I'm going to tackle them both.

What it all boils down to is that no matter how convinced I was as a teen that they weren't cool parents, I was wrong.  They're strong, supportive, creative, loving, giving, caring, self-sacrificing, talented... the list goes on and on.  As I grow older and find myself slowing turning into both of them, I can only hope that the parts that stick are the awesomest ones.

I've learned alot from them, and not just mechanical things like grouting tile and replacing light switches. I've learned that while it can be painful, it's a noble thing to chase your dreams, even if it's just for a little while.  I don't think I could have made the jump from corporate monkey to waiter/writer/producer without the knowledge that it's actually not TOTALLY insane to do this.  They have faith in me and the things that I do, or that I want to do, and there's really no way to repay the strength and courage that comes out of that.

I may be the luckiest person I know when it comes to parents.
